Allan Baker joined BLSE in 2004 and serves as a structural engineer and project manager. His responsibilities include structural design work for architectural projects, and specialty work for structural steel connection design, and stair and handrail design.
Allan studied engineering at the University of Florida, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, graduating with honors. In addition to his design experience as a structural engineer, Allan has a broad-base of talents. He worked as a field and lab technician for a geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing lab, and held positions as project manager, chief draftsman, and fabrication quality control engineer for a major steel fabricator.
Through his experience in the steel fabrication industry, Allan is able to identify and avoid potential problems inherent to steel design. He also has specialty engineer skills in light gage steel, structural steel connection, stair, and handrail design. Allan has worked on many building projects, as well as crane foundations, yacht piers, and hurricane mooring systems for Mississippi casino barges.
Allan is highly trained in the use of computer analysis software, and has extensive finite element analysis experience. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.
As a dedicated husband and father of three, Allan enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and serving as volunteer youth director for his church.
